The Hollywood Launch, or, The Brazilian Wax

This weeks lecture contained tips on how to make it in the real world.

Portfolio Deliverable

As mentioned, your Portfolio, an assessed part of the DES513 module is to be handed in on Thursday 18th February.

There is no physical hand-in, all that is required is that you have your portfolio accessible from http://193.61.148.36:8080/~B00123456/ - where B00123456 is replaced by your student number.

Terry Anderson has confirmed that it is OK to have the portfolio at the root of your web space, as long as there is a clear link to the deliverables for his modules. Note that it is also fine to host the portfolio with your own hosting provider, as long as all the modules can be accessed from the root of - or a redirect of the root of - your IMD web space.

The bottom line is this: - imagine a typical potential employer arriving at the IMD site. He or she will be clicking each of the students' name from the 'Student Showcases' page, expecting to see your portfolio. Don't disappoint them.

Assessing The Portfolios

We will commence assessment of the Portfolios immediately after the hand in, but you will have a chance to continue to work on your portfolio and add content to it after we have assessed the work. We will notify you all through the official channels when this is done.

Progress Log

The Major Project Progress log should be linked from the root of your web space, and placed at http://193.61.148.36:8080/~B00123456/plog

The Progress Log should contain a weekly account of your Major Project endeavours, by the time of hand in, we are at the end of week 4, so the Progress Log should contain four weeks of content. We expect approximately 500 words of self generated content per week.

You can continue to update the progress log throughout the marking period as the contents will be formally assessed after week 12.

Blogs?

Apart from the Progress Log detailed above, there is no requirement for keeping a blog this semester. You can include something like a blog as part of your Portfolio site if you wish, but this is neither a required nor assessed component of the module.
