Crit Session
The crit session looked at a range of work from those students who did turn up. We also felt it was a valuable exercise to give you an idea of the amount of material we are looking for in terms of your design diary.
In general the design diaries lacked content, please make sure you keep up-to-date with these as much as you possibly can. You don't have the benefit of an additional 2-3 weeks to finish things off before your hand-in this semester so try to keep on top of things.
This week should be used to finish off your photography material, update your diaries and start to think about your next project.
The design diary is not only a reflection of your project material but everything you do and see as a developing designer so put in whatever you feel is appropriate. Maybe you have just seen a new film and liked the promotional posters add it and pop up an image. Maybe it was an ad you saw on TV or a brand you came across in a magazine, whatever it is add it to your diary and write a few lines about it.
Project 2 – Outline
Full details for the next project will be presented during Friday's lecture. In the meantime we would like you to look into storyboards. Your research should look at different styles of storyboards plus how and why they are used.
As this module is all about imaging we will be looking at other methods of image making. This next project will give you the opportunity to explore these methods, so if you are confident with your drawing skills now's your chance to show those skills off. If you can't even draw like a four year old wearing a blindfold, don't panic there are plenty of other ways to express yourself on paper and screen.
Friday's lecture will look at a few of these methods as well as storyboarding in general. Attendance to the crit session was pitiful and has been brought to the attention of the course director so please make an effort to attend the next lecture.
Pictory
Pictory is the site Nick was trying to find during Friday's lecture. Well worth a visit.
